We are delighted to announce that our Building Manager, John McCarthy, has been awarded a ‘Pride In The Job Quality Award 2014’ by the National House-Building Council (NHBC) for his work at Acer Place, Banstead, Surrey. John has previously been presented with the same prestigious award in 2012, for our Rossetti Gardens (Willow Close) development in Banstead, Surrey.

Consistency, leadership, technical expertise, interpretation, health and safety and the ‘X’ factor are categories which the judges use to assess each manager.  The competition is intense and NHBC judges have to see something quite special to nominate a manager for an award. From the standard of workmanship, to the welfare of staff, a site manager must get involved with every aspect on site and work to continually raise standards.

John, has worked for Devine Homes for 13 years and comes from a family of builders with his Dad and his son both having worked within the industry.  This year he celebrates his 43rd year in the trade.

John comments: “With the challenges currently facing the industry, building quality new homes has never been more important.  I am therefore delighted to have won this award as it recognises Devine Homes’ commitment to high standards.  However, it is not only my efforts that should be praised – you are only as good as your team and our team continuously strives to provide quality work through dedication and commitment to the job, so my congratulations goes to them as I could not have won the award without them.”
